How to split a PDF
- 1
Add a PDF
You can add more than one. The same split rule is applied to each.
- 2
Choose every page or ranges
Ranges use commas. 2-4, 8 takes pages 2, 3, 4 as one PDF and page 8 as another.
- 3
Download
Save the ZIP, or the single PDF when your range produced only one file.
Good to know
Splitting keeps the pages as real PDF pages, not pictures. Extract every page as its own file, or type ranges. “1-3, 5” makes two PDFs: pages 1–3 together, and page 5 alone.
The work is local. Password-protected PDFs are not opened. A single extracted file downloads directly; several files download as a ZIP. There is a limit of 200 pieces per run so a huge document does not freeze the tab.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract just a few pages?
Choose custom ranges and type them, for example 1-3, 5. Each comma-separated piece becomes its own PDF.
Does split upload the document?
No. Pages are copied into new PDF files in your browser.
What if I need JPG images of the pages instead?
Use PDF to JPG. Split keeps vector pages; PDF to JPG draws a picture of each page.
Why is there a limit on how many pieces I can make?
Extracting every page of a very long PDF can run the tab out of memory. The limit is 200 output files per run. Use a narrower range for long documents.
