How to convert AVIF to PNG
- 1
Drop AVIF files
The tool accepts .avif only, so a mixed folder will not silently convert other types.
- 2
Convert to PNG
Transparency is preserved. There is no quality slider because PNG is lossless.
- 3
Download
Take one PNG or a ZIP of the batch.
Good to know
PNG is the practical export when an AVIF is a logo, a screenshot, or any image with a transparent background. It is lossless, so hard edges stay hard.
The PNG will usually be larger than the AVIF. That is expected. Use the compressor afterward if you need to send a smaller file and can switch to JPG or WebP.
Frequently asked questions
Will an AVIF with transparency stay transparent?
Yes. PNG keeps the alpha channel. JPG does not, so use this page rather than AVIF to JPG for logos and stickers.
Why does the browser have to be up to date?
ToolSpruce uses the browser’s own AVIF decoder so it does not ship a second copy of the codec. Older browsers cannot read AVIF at all.
Is the PNG uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is created in memory and offered as a download. ToolSpruce does not receive it.
Can I resize while converting?
Not on this page. Convert first, then open Resize image if you need a different pixel size.
